This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Full time 42 hours a week. Working 12 hour shifts, 7pm to 7am, on a four on four off rota pattern.

This is a Lone Working position. You will be working to provide support to our clients who have a mental health diagnosis and complex needs. You will love helping others by being on hand when they need you.  Your primary role will be to keep our service and the people that use it, safe. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a new, exciting service.  You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.

Our night workers will usually work a 12 hour (waking) on a four night on, four night off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a welcoming friendly face for people in the service
  • Provide informal support to clients and be a listening ear
  • Respond to incoming calls
  • Manage clients and their visitors within the building and any associated safety issues
  • Deal with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary
  • Monitor the service and surrounding areas that are covered by CCTV
  • Complete wellbeing checks for all residents at agreed times and to meet their needs
  • Carry out regular visual checks / fire checks on the interior and exterior of the buildings and car park, noting defects during the handover or via the communications book
  • Perform any other checks or tasks as directed by staff, referring issues to relevant person
  • You will be extremely conscientious in areas such as safeguarding and lone working and follow the relevant procedures
  • Maintain clean and tidy communal areas and support clients to maintain their flats
  • Provide detailed handovers to day staff regarding client safety and support information
  • Work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and policy and procedure
  • Attend supervision, appraisal and training as required to carry out the role
  • Provide basic First Aid assistance until help arrives (full training provided)
  • Triage out of hours issues which may arise in service and contact the on-call manager where applicable

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR ROLE  (Minimum requirements on appointment to this job)

Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people.  Your values will match ours, you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.

  • Clear verbal and written English
  • Good IT and keyboard skills
  • Interest and genuine concern for mental health, housing and related issues
  • Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate
  • Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
